My name is Dr. Alessandra Wall and I am a licensed clinical psychologist. What does that mean? It means that I have a doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, a Bachelors of Arts in Developmental Psychology from Duke University and am currently in good standing with the California Board of Psychology.
Like many therapists when I started out I worked with people how dealt with a wide variety of issues from depression to anxiety, eating to bipolar disorders, personality disorders and much more. Over the past several years, however, my skills and interests have led me to focus the scope of my practice on what I love and do best, which is treating anxiety disorders, improving stress management, and helping couples communicate more effectively.
I approach therapy from a cognitive behavioral perspective; the starting point of our therapy is to understand how your thoughts impact your emotions, actions and outcomes. There are many different ways to address a problem, so treatment is individualized to every person who walks through my door. At the end of the day my goal is to help people understand why they experience negative thoughts and feelings and enable them to create lasting change.
